Then, Jasmine suggested we play the icebreaker, “Telephone.”
Next, Dr. Kindon gave an update from Will T. (former Recording Secretary) in Iraq.
Then, John F. gave a wrap-up of the Honors Symposium, and he encouraged all members to participate next semester.
After that, Philip and Kellie S. spoke about community service. They briefly reminded the club about the two last organized community service events, the beach clean up and West Fest. Both opportunities will be Saturday, April 26, 2008.
In terms of the beach clean up, it will take place at Capitola Beach from around 11:30 am until later that evening. If interested in carpooling, please contact the coordinators for information. Please note: if you are not carpooling, you need to check in and check out with Philip or Kellie, and you should contact Philip or Kellie prior to the event to let them know you intend to participate.
In terms of West Fest, sign-ups for service have commenced. There will be two shifts. The first is from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the second is from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. If interested in contributing, please contact Philip or Kellie.
Then, Mandy spoke about ICC. The Spring Thing is scheduled for May 1, 2008, and AGS will be selling snow cones at our booth from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sign-ups to man the booth have commenced, and if interested in signing up, please contact Mandy.
Next, Renee and Katie spoke about fundraising. The “Go Green” fundraiser has been extended until Wednesday, April 30, 2008. However, it is your responsibility to take the bottles and cans you collect to the recycling center with the expectation you will turn in an official receipt and money to either of the Fundraising Coordinators.
Then, Kelly P. and Caitlin spoke about the Blood Drive. Sign-ups to work the donation sign-up booth, the greeting booth, and the refreshment table have commenced. Please contact either of the Blood Drive Coordinators, if you are interested in participating.
Next, Brittany spoke about the Teacher Appreciation Dinner. This event is fast approaching, and more assistance is needed to make it successful. Again, Brittany mentioned we need more donations. In addition, in terms of the decorating sessions, this Friday’s decorating session will be from 9:30 am to around 1:00 pm. This is the last decorating session and so everyone is encouraged to help. Furthermore, for those who have invited a teacher, you need to speak to your invited guest in order to assure they received their invitation and ask them to répondez s'il vous plaît.
Then, Christy reminded the club about the Walk-a-thon at Capri Elementary School. If interested in participating, please speak to Christy.
Lastly, the advisors reminded the club about the April 30, 2008 election for new Officers. Tina sent out an email with detailed information about eligibility and position descriptions this week. If you plan to run, it is a good idea to write a short speech about what qualifies you for the position.
John F. closed the meeting.
