Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society
West Valley College, Gamma Iota Chapter Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Laura commenced this week's meeting.

John introduced an icebreaker called "Face to Face."

Kara congratulated the club on the success of the See's Candy fundraiser.
We collectively raised $4,790 and we get to keep half.

Laura gave a semester wrap-up, which addressed the State Convention, the
State Scholarships, and the qualifications for the Honors Program.

First, she reminded the club that the State Convention would be April 2nd
through April 4th.

Next, she reiterated about the State Scholarships.  If you will have 60
or more units by the end of the spring semester, you may qualify.  The
scholarships will be in the sums of $600 to $1000, so please take the
time to apply.  Laura plans to have more information on our website soon.

Finally, Laura spoke about the qualifications and benefits of joining the
Honors Program.  If you have a 3.25 grade point average or higher, you
qualify to join the program.  The application is a simple one-page form,
and you do not even have to take Honors classes.  There are a lot of
benefits associated with being in the Honors program.  These include
getting to register for classes early and participating in the Honors
Research Symposium to be hosted at Stanford University.

Contact Ann Malmuth-Onn in the Counceling Officing for more information
about the Honors Program or Symposium.

See admissions.stanford.edu/hrs for more information on the Symposium

Behdad thanked the advisors for their work this semester and gave each of
them gifts that he made. Laura presented them with a thankyou card and a
small gift for each from the club.

John spoke about one last activity for our chapter to participate in this
semester.  On Friday, December 21st, our members will meet for bowling at
Strike in Cupertino.  The activity should begin around 7 pm, but please
expect an email with more information.

Next, the advisors handed out certificates and scholarships.  Unclaimed
certificates can be picked up outside Tina's office.

Important Notice: Unclaimed See's Candy needs to be picked up at Andy's
office before the end of next week.  If you do not pick up the candy, it
will be donated.

Laura adjourned our meeting.
