Brittany commenced this week’s meeting, as Laura was out sick.

John introduced a game called “Someone.”

Kara first informed the club that the last bake sale raised around $125 and both Chevy’s nights raised around $205.  Next, Kara reminded everyone that See’s candy orders are due on Wednesday, November 21st.

Tina reiterated about two upcoming items: Gamma Iota scholarships and the election for spring officers.

In terms of the scholarships, awards are the result of our fundraising efforts.  Most everyone will be eligible for these awards, so please consider applying.  You should have received an email from Tina with the scholarship forms attached.  If you did not receive the email, the forms are also available on our website.  The form and supporting documents are due on Wednesday, November 21st.  You can drop your scholarship package off at any of the advisors’ offices by 3:00 pm on the due date or you may submit it at the meeting.

In terms of the elections, they will be held on Wednesday, November 21st.  Every position is up for grabs (except for webmaster, which is an appointed position).  Remember, the only requirement is that you must have been a successful member of AGS for one semester (including this semester) and that you are able to make all of our meetings.  If you are interested in a position, you may nominate yourself or you may have someone nominate you for the position.  Nominees will give a brief speech about what qualifies them for the position.  If you are planning to run, you might consider preparing a few words to make your speech persuasive.  After all nominees have given their speeches, AGS members will cast their vote by private ballot.

Logan talked about the Toy Drive.  Remember, unwrapped brand new toys are due on Wednesday, November 21st.  Please bring receipts to confirm proof of purchase and price.  It is one community service point for every $20.00 worth of toys.  On the due date, please leave the toys in your car and just bring your receipts to the meeting.  Logan will accompany those who brought toys to the parking lot to retrieve them.  For those unable to make it to campus on Wednesday, Logan has agreed to pick up toys on Tuesday, November 20th.  He will meet people at 9 am in the cafeteria for a brief period and then around an hour after 10:45 am, after he is excused from his class.

Please note, community service points will only be granted for actually performing community service.  You will not be eligible for points for simply speaking about community service.

Annalise reminded members that points are due Wednesday, November 21st.  She encouraged members to check their points’ status online to assure they have enough points to receive credit for participating this semester.

Brittany opened the floor to questions and answers.

One member asked about how the points break down for See’s candy.  Kara responded that it is one point for the first item you sell, and then each additional point will be granted for every four items you sell.

Next, Dr. Kindon made announcement concerning, former Recording Secretary, Will Treseder.  Will called and said he has been recalled to active duty and will be deployed to Iraq this January.  He has been spending a lot of time in Southern California, and he is getting a lot of support from former AGS members.  Basically, Will wanted to thank AGS for giving him the opportunity to get to know so many people, and just let people know that that is one of the major benefits of being involved in our club.

Brittany adjourned the meeting.
