Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Laura began the meeting by wishing everyone a Happy Halloween.  She then
reminded everyone that we only have a month left with points being due on
November 21st and our last meeting being scheduled for November 28th.  If you
do not have a plan in place to fulfill your points? requirement, please feel
free to contact Laura or any of the other officers for advice.

John introduced a game called "The Knot Game," and then he gave a blood-drive
wrap-up.  He pointed out that the blood-drive was a success and we managed to
acquire forty pints of blood.  Next, John wanted to recognize the AGS members
who donated blood.  Some of these people included Roberta, John, Behdad and
Greg.

Melissa talked a bit about the Regional State Convention.  It was a lot of fun
with many useful workshops, inspiring keynote speakers, good food, and a
magician.  Also, Los Positas has a newly renovated campus and so it
was a really nice place to host the convention.  Laura said that if we
had fun during this convention, then the State Convention this spring should be
even more fun.  It is due to be held at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose April
4th through 6th.

Brittany spoke about the upcoming Teacher Appreciation Dinner to be held
this Monday.  This Friday, Brittany will be in the workroom from 10 am to 12 pm
for those of you who would like to help out.  Also, we are still in
real need of donations for prizes.  If you are bringing a teacher, we are
asking that you provide at least one donation.  Some ideas for your donation
are to ask local businesses for donations, provide monetary donations, purchase
a gift certificate, or create your own gift basket.

Next, Brittany read off the list of teachers who have said they would like to
attend.  If your teacher has not responded to Tina?s email, they will not be on
the list, so assure your teacher has responded.  On
Monday, preparation for the dinner will go from 9:00 am to 11 am, and then
12:30pm (under Logan's watchful eye) until the dinner begins.  If you are
attending, please be sure to have your food there by 3:45 pm. Finally, we could
really use table covers.

Logan said the next community service opportunity is the Toy Drive.  The toys need to be turned in by no later than November 21st.  It is one point for every twenty dollars worth of toys.  Receipts need to be provided for verification in order to receive points.  Please contact Logan, if you have questions or would like more information.

Kara first spoke about the See's Candy fundraiser.  Remember, orders must be
submitted by November 21st.  You can either drop it off early at an advisors
office by 3:00pm or you can drop it off at the meeting.  Please have the money
and the slip with the calculated totals in the envelope. Also, remember to
double-check your math.  Next, Kara spoke about the last bake sale.  There are
still opportunities to sit behind the table on November 14th, so let Kara know
if you would like to sign up.

Nick talked about Laser Quest and Chevy's Night.  For Laser Quest, we need to
provide a fifty percent deposit prior to November 8th.  Please contact Nick, if
you plan to attend.  Next, Nick reminded everyone who attended the first
Chevy's Night that they need to turn in the customer receipts in order to
receive points.  If you forgot to provide your receipt today, please plan to
bring it in next week.  Also, don't forget the next Chevy's night will be
November 7th between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. So, please start letting people know
and passing out flyers.

Annalise reiterated that points are on-line and if there are any problems with
your point count to please contact her.  Also, she will update points to take
into account the blood drive.  Next, Annalise said she has been receiving
emails from those who participated in the Pow Wow.  If you participated and
wanted community service points, you need to print out our community service
form off of the website and contact Lenore Harris in the English department.

During the Questions and Answers session, Kristy thanked everyone who helped
out with the Fall Fest at Capri Elementary, and John asked everyone to give
suggestions for outside activities for the club.
