I. Welcome. The AGS President for Fall 2007 is Laura Sylvan. She is an
English Major at WVC and is really looking forward to another great
semester with the club. She shared that AGS is more than just an honor
society, it is also a way to meet and make new friends that a student will
be having fun with semester after semester. In essense, West Valley is a
commuter college and we don't have an oncampus dorm life - but AGS is one
way to build a community and network of great friends. So welcome!

III. What is AGS? We are part of a statewide organization that stresses
academic scholarship, leadership and community service. AGS is also a lot
of fun. Check out our website or the state's website for more indepth
details on the history and focus of the club (ags.sylvan.com or
www.ags-honor.org)
IV. Fun! AGS plans to go to the Regional State Convention, which is an
awesome way to really bond with fellow AGS members. We will have a Bake
Sale soon (get your fundraiser points done with early!), the Blood Drive
is on Halloween, and other events like Chevy's night (another fundraiser)
are also in the planning. Teacher & Staff Appreciation Dinner will be
Monday, November 5th - volunteering for this activity is a lot of fun
(decorating, painting, crafty stuff). A lot more news of activities will
be happening as the semester develops.
V. Coordinators: We need YOU! Please get involved with your club. We need
Activities, Community Service, Publicity, Fundraising, Webhistorian and
State Convention Coordinator. Descriptions are in the application form,
which is available online. Coordinators get an automatic 15 point
reduction of required points - but the real benefit is how much more fun
the club is the more you get involved!
VI. Membership Information. Applications are Due by September
19th at 3:30pm - give to an Advisor. Remember to include a copy of your
transcript and $20 dues. An unofficial copy (printed off of the web) is
fine! Points exemptions are to be given to the Points Secretary, Annalia.
Don't forget to include a separate copy of your transcript if that is the
proof required for your exemption (the one with the membership went to the
Advisors, be sure to give Annalisa a new copy!).
VII. Miscellaneous. Tshirts for Sale next week. Price for tshirts are
(approximately) $8-12 and sweatshirts $20.
VIII. End. (Remember, applications due by September 19th at 3:30pm!)
